Description
Lamp made with the Tiffany technique. It was Louis Comfort Tiffany (son of the founder of the famous jewelry store) who used this technique which took its name from him for his creations. What does it consist of? It involves joining pieces of glass using soldering, rather than the classic lead bonding. In practice, the artistic glass is cut (a good glass cutter is essential) into parts following a design and the edges of the cut are smoothed with diamond tools or carborundum files. This operation is important because the glass parts must fit together and, given the hardness of the glass, appropriate tools must be used.
