Description
Set of 5 porcelain saucers made by Richard Ginori and commissioned by Alitalia for first class flights in the 1960s and 1970s.
Originally, the saucer was likely used as an ashtray or butter plate.
These collectible saucers are part of a series featuring images, some commemorative and others utopian, celebrating the history and early achievements of hot air balloons in the late 1700s.
Each porcelain plate measures approximately 9x9x1.5 cm, with a gold rim and gently raised rounded corners surrounding a central hot air balloon illustration.
The back is marked in blue with the ALITALIA script and Richard Ginori logo.
Very good vintage condition despite their age, never used. The hot air balloon design is also in excellent condition with no visible color loss (see photos).
Total of 5 saucers in 2 different patterns (3 + 2).
