Description

A collection of six silkscreens belonging to a significant cultural operation promoted by Nikol Art in 1972, bringing together 14 authors in a collection of as many graphic works. The project was created with the intention of documenting and enhancing the artistic research active in the 1960s, traceable to the languages of Gestalt art, Programmed art and Op Art. Each serigraph was printed in 126 copies: 26 reserved for the artists involved and 100 numbered and signed, destined for public distribution. The works on show are mounted in original satinised aluminium frames with glass. In particular, the work by Gianni Chiggio - printed on a transparent support - has no signature or cartouche. A choice that, in the cultural context of the time and of the group of artists involved, reflects the desire to place the work and the collective artistic gesture at the centre, rather than the celebration of the individual author's identity. The collection was accompanied by a booklet signed Nikol Art with a preface by Professor Giulio Carlo Argan, testifying to the critical and cultural value of the project. The six silkscreens proposed are all signed and numbered, and bear the signatures of: Davide Boriani, Ennio Chiggio, Grazia Varisco Colombo, Gianni De Vecchi, Edoardo Landi and Manfredo Massironi. A rare and precious collection, witness to a fundamental season of Italian art of the second half of the 20th century.
