Description
Set of no. 6 Kentucky chairs design Carlo Scarpa Year 1977 Kentucky is a chair born from the collaboration between Carlo Scarpa and the Bernini company. It presents an apparent formal simplicity but in reality hides a very complex and detailed design. With a direct reference to craftsmanship, the Kentucky chair combines the naturalness of its walnut structure with the value of the sartorially crafted leather seat and backrest. The visible stitching on the seat and backrest are decorative elements resulting from sophisticated artisan assembly and attention to detail that characterizes Carlo Scarpa. The seat is anchored to the frame via tensioned elastic straps, construction details that aim to achieve a high level of comfort and which also become highly decorative. Additionally, the chair features a backward-slanted seat, a design choice made by the designer to meet functional and ergonomic needs. The structure is in walnut, while the seat and back are in solid black leather. Being original pieces from 1977, the seats show signs of wear consistent with age and use, accentuating their historical significance.
