Description
Set of six Thonet model 209 coffee chairs, a design icon originally designed in 1859 by Gebrüder Thonet and later celebrated by Le Corbusier in the 20s as “the chair of chairs”. This example features an upholstered seat covered in fine olive green textured fabric (Divina Melange 471), with a dark brown stained beech wood frame. The chairs are in excellent condition: the upholstery is in excellent condition, while the wood shows only slight surface scratches, typical of time, which do not compromise either aesthetics or stability. Under the seat there are some disconnections in the fibre of the underlying fabric, completely irrelevant for structural purposes. The ergonomic shape ensures superior comfort.
