Description
Antique Welsh writing desk from the mid-19th century, a piece of furniture of exceptional craftsmanship, finely carved and veneered in mahogany, rosewood, and fruit woods. The desk, also finished on the back and therefore suitable for placement in the center of a room, features two spacious drawers and a well-proportioned wooden top, making it ideal for both home offices and professional use. The table stands on four carved legs with elegant floral motifs, embellished with original metal casters that make it easy to move. Under one of the drawers, the original manufacturer's label is still present, linking it to Isaac Davies’s Manufactory on King Street in Carmarthen, a historic Welsh workshop founded around 1821, renowned for the quality of its furniture. Over time, the piece has undergone some restoration work, visible in the photographs, which has preserved its functionality and structure. The writing desk remains structurally sound and sturdy, with normal signs of wear consistent with its age and use, and is overall in good condition. A piece of furniture with great historical and decorative charm, perfect for enhancing classic interiors, professional offices, or eclectic spaces with an authentic 19th-century Welsh furniture piece.
