Bertil Vallien Galaxy Series Vase for Åfors Glassworks from 1982. This collection features pieces adorned with lines and dots on a white surface. Bertil Vallien (1938–) has designed many iconic pieces for the renowned Swedish glassworks Åfors, Boda, and Kosta. One of his most famous collections is the Galaxy series from 1982, produced by Kosta Boda, Sweden. This unique vase is an original piece from the 1980s Galaxy series. Hand-blown and painstakingly crafted, it features hand-applied glass accents. The main body is clear glass, decorated with opaque white glass paste, a darker red applied thread motif, and a deep red spot on the front. The vase is signed under the base with "Kosta Boda B. Vallien, Artist Coll." engraved with a needle, along with "B Vallien 48118" and catalog number. Height: 6 cm. Glass enthusiasts will recognize that the glass must reach temperatures of 1,320°C (2,400°F) to melt, while the working temperature is 1,090°C (2,000°F), highlighting the meticulous care, effort, and skill required to create these miniature glass art pieces.
