Vintage Pila chair (1960s)

With Plia, the designer Giancarlo Piretti has re-proposed the concept of folding chair and his study on the "3-disc pivot" is considered a stroke of genius. The combination of steel frame and polypropylene paved the way for the chair to become a cult object. The chair represents the realization of "democratic design" and is exhibited in the design sector of the MoMA in New York. Thanks to this chair, of which millions of copies have been sold so far, Piretti, nicknamed the "Thonet of the 20th century" entered the history of design.
