The work depicts a mother and child with delicate attention to detail and a warm color tone. The sculpture demonstrates the technical skill and refinement of the artist, whose work is exhibited in museums in Belgium, including the Musées d'Anvers. Van Esbroeck, also a professor at the Academy of Antwerp, received numerous awards, including the Deuxième Prix de Rome in 1938 and the Prix Godecharle in 1933.
