The Remington typewriter of the 1960s was a coil-over and keyboard typewriter, with the distinctive trapezoid shape that distinguished it from other typewriters of that period. It was equipped with a keyboard with 54 keys, of which 8 were the main function keys that controlled the direction and height of the transcription, the movement of the paper and the movements of the writing head. The mechanics of the Remington were very simple and consisted of two main parts: a steel coil that contained the ink and the writing tips, and a mechanical part that controlled the movements of the writing head and the release of the ink onto the paper .
