Eclisse is a lamp designed by the Italian designer Vico Magistretti in 1965 for the Italian furniture and lighting company Artemide which started its production in 1967. It is a table lamp, with direct or diffused light, but also designed for wall installation. The lamp allows its user to dim the light source as he pleases by sliding a full round body over it and thus regulating its luminous flux; if the light source is completely covered, only the outer glow remains, reminiscent of a total eclipse. This feature is not only conceptual but also functional, in fact the lamp can be used as a source of direct or diffused light, depending on the use made of it
