Description
Chimera model floor lamp, designed by Vico Magistretti in 1968 for Artemide, Milan. Made with a painted metal structure and methacrylate diffuser, it represents an icon of post-war Italian design. The lamp is documented in several publications, including Ottagono n. 10 (July 1968, p. 80), the 1969 Artemide catalogue (p. 27) and Repertorio del design italiano 1950/2000 per l'arredo domestico by Giuliana Gramigna (Allemandi, Turin 2003, p. 164). It is in good vintage condition: the painted metal of the base shows some loss of colour with retouching, while the methacrylate is free of breaks and has slight surface scratches. The electrical system has been tested and is working, with all three lamps replaced.
